This year, the first Base4NFDI User Conference took place on November 20 and 21 at Fraunhofer FOKUS in Berlin. The two-day event, which is primarily designed for members of the NFDI community, was organized by the Base4NFDI initiative. The initiative aims to develop and offer general and shared RDM (Research Data Management) resources and services for the NFDI. A key objective of the conference was to present the current base services as well as future candidates to the NFDI community to explain how they can be integrated and whom to contact for assistance. As part of the interactive program, individual aspects of the various services were explained and the institutions that will support the implementation of these services were presented.

At the user conference, the DALIA team was represented by Jochen Ortmeyer, Jan-Michael Haugwitz, Agnes Kleinhans, and Petra Steiner. Among many exciting talks and poster presentations, the DALIA search platform was introduced by Ortmeyer and Haugwitz with the title “A Platform for the Provision of Teaching and Training Contents in Data Literacy: DALIA4NFDI”.The presentation explained underlying concepts and standards - such as the user personae and the DALIA Interchange Format (DIF) - and offered a quick overview about functionalities in a live demonstration of the search portal. As a future prospect to the first quarter of 2025, the curation form has been previewed in a test environment, as curation features will offer the NFDI consortia and data literacy drivers a comfortable way to provide their own learning resources to DALIA and increase their FAIRness. Our team would like to thank the organizers, Base4NDFI, for two days full of interesting presentations and productive exchange.

Exciting news and current project results are published via the project newsletter, the social media channels Bluesky and Mastodon and via the news category on the project website. Further information on the DALIA project and contact details can be found on the project website. DALIA will go through various prototype development stages until October 2025 and will then continue to be operated by TIB Hannover. Ideas and feedback on errors are always welcome for example via the contact form on dalia.education.
